CWA of NSW Drought Aid Grants
OverviewThis program aims to provide funds from its Disaster Relief Fund for drought relief in NSW. These monies are available for farming businesses that are drought affected and dependent on farming as their primary source of income.
Grants of up to $3,000 are available per individual applicant and/or household. An individual applicant and/or household may apply more than once, provided that they have not already reached the maximum $3,000.
Eligible applicants include:
- Farmers or farming dependent contractors
- A farming dependent family (including families servicing farming, such as farming contractors and local rural businesses)
In addition, applicants must also demonstrate the following:
- They must be located in an area that is identified as being in drought, according to the NSW DPI Combined Drought Indicator.
- A reliance on farming or farming related activities for the majority of their income.
- Evidence that their primary source of income has suffered as a direct result of drought.
Eligible activities include those that help meet household expenses. Examples of household expenses include:
- Food
- Vehicle maintenance
- School expenses
- Electricity (attributable to house use)
- Rates (attributable to house block)
- Telephone expenses
- Dental and medical, such as gap payments or cost of travel to access treatment
- Start-up
- Research & Development
- Marketing
- Export
- Business Support
